Imate SP5 Mobile Phone

With features such as the new Windows Mobile 5.0 and Quad-band GSM, the Imate SP5 Mobile Phone is a power device in the convenient size of a regular mobile phone. T-Mobile Sidekick 3 Preview

The T-Mobile Sidekick 3 is the replacement for the Sidekick II device. So far, T-Mobile have not officially confirmed the Sidekick 3, but there is absolutely no doubt that it exists

It's worth noting that the device says Sidekick 3 on the back when opened - not Sidekick III, even though T-Mobile use Roman numerals for their MDA series.
It's a somewhat smoother and smarter looking device than the old Sidekick - the Sidekick 3 has more of a look of a portable gaming machine rather than a communicator, although overall the layout is pretty similar.
Arrange to the left and right of the QWERTY keypad are a series of other control buttons, and in these photographs they are actually quite dark, so perhaps they are illuminated when available. This certainly gives the Sidekick 3 a tidier look

Phone for the health conscious

If you're a health and fitness freak, you'd better keep your fingers crossed that this Health Conscious Tracking Phone concept will be realized none the sooner. This handset is capable of tracking the user's health via nutrition and fitness details, thanks to the eNose technology that "smells" and recognizes certain foods through their respective chemical signatures. This collected data will then be analyzed, where you will be informed of whether any food groups are missing from your diet or not. Nokia E61i

The day my beloved Nokia E61 was stolen was a sad, sad day in my life. I had grown oddly attached to its alluring screen, quirky buttons and its uncanny ability to hunt down open WiFi spots. The killer was that it never played nice with iSync on my Mac so I rarely backed it up to my PC. So alas, I lost enough data and contacts to make a sizable dent. Like I said, it was a sad, sad day.
It didn't take me long to start hunting for a replacement E61.... burning the midnight oil... searching Ebay (you know the drill). But when I saw the announcement of the Nokia E61i, I resolved to wait it out. The long list of new phone offerings distracted me... first the iPhone with it's tempting touch screen... then the Blackjack with it svelte profile... and who could resist the Blackberry Pearl... and I have to admit that the Sony Ericsson W880i teased me with it's uber-clean looks but I stayed away from them all... and I am proud of myself

BenQ-Siemens E52 and C31

The squared off design of the BenQ-Siemens E52 is very reminiscent of Siemens designed handsets - but underneath this is a pure BenQ device with little or no input from the old Siemens Mobile arm of the business.
Priced at around €130 or less, the E52 is a tri-band GSM phone with GPRS and Bluetooth, an MP3 player, FM radio, 1.3 megapixel camera and expandable memory using microSD cards. The display is a 1.8" 176x220 pixel panel in 262,000 colours.
So far the BenQ-Siemens E52 looks like an inexpensive, smart but fairly dull phone. One interesting twist though is that the E52 has a built-in laser pointer and it can even be used as a mouse in PowerPoint presentations via a suitable Bluetooth link. It's an unusual twist which shows that the E52 is aimed at business users.
It's quite a heavy phone at 122 grams, but it's hard to say where all the weight goes.. the battery life is pretty unremarkable at 4 hours talktime and it's not as though it's a 3G phone. HTC Touch (T-Mobile MDA Touch)

HTC is a pretty established player in the smartphone market - it has been around for 10 years and is widely considered to be the market leader when it comes to Windows Mobile handsets, with a wide variety of designs available.
One problem that HTC have had is that fundamentally, all their phones are very similar. Yes - you can add 3G, WiFi, keyboards, touchscreens and even GPS and then mix the ingredients around, but underneath they're all constrained somewhat by the fact that they run Windows.
So, the HTC Touch (codenamed the HTC Elf and also known as the HTC P3450) represents a new departure. Instead of supply the Touch with a standard Windows Mobile implementation, they've chosen to do something a little different. Using a technology called TouchFLO™, HTC have made the Touch very much easier to control with a finger rather than a stylus. The Touch automatically distinguished between a stylus and a finger - the user simply sweeps their finger across the display and the Touch comes up with an elegant interface that is specially optimised for this type of use. HTC say that it is "an animated, three-dimensional interface... the interface can be spun by swiping a finger right or left across the display.. Samsung E590 (SGH-E590)

The Samsung SGH-E590 is a very compact device weighing just 66 grams, but it manages to squeeze in a 3 megapixel digital camera with autofocus, a 1.8" 220x220 pixel display, expandable memory and Bluetooth.
Designed by the industrial designer Jasper Morrison, the SGH-E590 doesn't look much like other Samsung devices. The understated design is rather more reminiscent of Nokia or Sony Ericsson, and it is certainly an elegant and unshowy looking phone.
There is one oddity with the Samsung E590 - the "Bean Bag". This is an accessory that acts as a camera tripod, made from a rubbery material that allows the E590 to be placed on a solid surface for steadier camera shots. This is an interesting idea, although we suspect that the Bean Bag might be a bit of a pain to carry around.This is a tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz phone with GPRS and EDGE data support. It has Bluetooth 2.0 and a USB 2.0 port. Internal memory is 90MB, and this can be expanded using (presumably) microSD cards. The E590's media player can support MP3, AAC, AAC+, e-AAC+ and WMA formats. Samsung don't tend to mention battery life with their product announcements, so we have no idea about how long the E590 will last on a single charge.
Samsung say that the E590 will be available in Europe and Asia-Pacific countries from June 2007 in "Noble Black" and "Snow Silver Colours" although the pricing is not known at the time of going to press.

Nokia 7500 "Prism"

We expect the Nokia 7500 Prism to be announced in the next week or so - from what we can tell this is an unusual fashion phone with triangular keys. At the moment the only official picture from Nokia comes from China and it doesn't show much detail (see left).
According to the specifications we have been able to determine, the Nokia 7500 Prism is a 2G handset with EDGE and GPRS data, a 240x320 pixel display in 262,000 colours and a MP3 player.
The rumour is that there is perhaps more than one phone to be launched in this range - that would make some sense as Nokia have a tendency to launch fashion phones in threes.

Nokia N93

The Nokia N93 is a very high-end camera phone/digital camcorder combo with a 3.2 megapixel digital camera with Carl Zeiss optics and 3X optical zoom. There's a large 2.4" 240x320 pixel display which swivels and twists around, and the Nokia N93 also supports WiFi and 3G.Although the Nokia N93 is packed with features, the most interesting element is the camera. The combination of a high-resolution 3.2 megapixel sensor plus the Carl Zeiss optics would be impressive enough, but the N93 one of a very small number of phones that includes optical zoom (in addition to up to 20X digital zoom). This combination of electronics and optical technology should mean that the N93 will be a seriously impressive stills camera.
But there's more to the N93's camera that stills photos. It can record video at up to 30 frames per second at 640x480 pixel resolution, so it's a very capable digital camcorder too. The N93 comes with Adobe Premiere Elements to help burn videos to DVD. The maximum record time on the N93 is 60 minutes and the miniSD slot can accept a memory card of up to 2Gb (a 128Mb card is included as standard in addition to 50Mb of internal memory).
